Tuesday
The chaplain told us the facts of life in R.K. so we told 1B which questions to press in their period tomorrow (at least I think they have an educational period tomorrow)., The whole class were caned in English by C for poor prep (no-one did any!). Preps have only just been started and we have not got used to them yet. They are usually sessions devoted to making a prefects' life miserable.
I took out my chocolate collection today. One bar for each week of term. I enjoy Just looking at it and making the rest jealous. I don't think I will have the nerve to eat it.
After lights out C/Cpl B sang Clementine accompanying himself on guitar.I fell asleep before he finished.
Wednesday
It rained so we had drill period in the house lobby. We have almost finished learning the school hymn, school song and the names of all the staff. An RAEC Captain took us for History and we did Tudor Despotism (whatever that is). We had a band period today and I was handed an unnamed round instrument and told to blow it, It wheezed inarticulately to my most strenuous efforts and 1 speculated on the purpose of the bits that pressed down on springs. As it had stopped raining we were sent to "have a blow" in the burnt out ruins of Roberts House (direct hit by a shell during the war).
Today I learned the story of Lt Cable and the mini-grave stones all over the school. The headless drummer seems so plausible after lights out with the moon full.
Thursday
Lunch today was interesting. I swapped two barkers and a dork for half a Sunday pie which break my record by half a pie. I will have six Sunday pies to eat after Chapel Sunday evening unless the Pre stops it again, We were reminded today that we are not to take books back to the company, they must be kept in our desks for education periods. We had our fourth maths teacher so far today and started the topic we began with three teachers ago.
A Pre gave me 5000 lines today becaus I reminded him that he had not asked nie for the 500 I was supposed to do last week. I thought he was kidding; I wonder if he still is? I'll have to use a couple of thos exercise books we got out of K's cupboard .
Friday
This is the day when. at supper time the seniors line up for their "trade pay"-1d for each good conduct badge 2d for signallers etc. The Drum Major gets 10d.
Its interesting trying to work out why the tea is sweetened in the way it is. Its not on a day of the week or ACC shift basis. You never know whether it will be unsweetened or sickly sweet.
