Most of last year was spent, by the band, rehearsing for Grand-Day Trooping of the Colour, with occasional outside engagements.

There were two engagements last year at the old Park Barracks Christmas Carol Service and The Dunkirks Veterans Parade, followed by a church service at Shorncliffe. Both were successful, but at Shorncliffe the Junior Leaders seem to want to march at 250 paces/minute instead of 120 and we had quite a job either trying to slow them down or keep up with them depending which way you look at it.

This year we are at the two above mentioned engagements again as well as supplying a fanfare party for a luncheon at the South East British Legion Club.

There is also talk of the band being involved when H.R.H. The Queen Mother becomes the Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports, but this has not yet been finalised.

We finished our year on Grand-Day with a fairly good display and I'm glad to say we weren't affected by an ex-picolo playing streaker who, after avoiding a C.S.M.'s pace-stick, disappeared through the fence, probably never to be seen again.

Finally, I would like to add my thanks to those who left the band at the end of last year,, Amongst them, Bruce Baker who was Drum-Major for two years and the Band Sergeant Major Brad Jackson. Others to leave were Mike Kelly, Ivor Eicock, Paul Jones and Angus Ferguson, who left us for better hunting grounds on the parade-line.
