The final occasion of the 22 season was the presenting of piled rifles to Capt Stephenson to thank him for all the really hard work he put in for for the 2 ½ years with us.
The last emphasis on .303 shooting was at 200 years. Consequently, at the Kent Shoot, for the first time in many years, the 200 yard aggregate was better then the 500 yards aggregate Paul Bush and Paul Stubbs brought back the Cadet Pair Trophey from this meeeting with the school eight finishing a good third above King's Cantebury.
Bisley should have been-,more of a success than it was. On the first two days the team shot scores easily within reach of being placed in the first Ten of the Ashburton but on the day some shot at their best, so Bisley was vacated with a certan degree of haste.
The return journey from Bisley saw the temporary replacement for Capt Stephenson frantically waving from his minibus that he needed petrol, so we pulled in at the next petrol station which was appropriately enough an elf station, as Mr Forxestor was quick to point out - many thanks to Capt Mehers for doing a great terms works and may be fare-well in his badminton.
The start of this .22 season saw the arrival of Mr Dawson to take over from Capt Meher's and also the arrival of many new shots. Also flourishing this season are Messrs, Robinson, Morris & Morris, Reed, Stubbs, White and especially Mark Hammond, Vernon Williams is grooming himself for captaincy next year, Mark Pridham keeps threatening to get a good score and Gareth Masters is still shooting last detail along with Paul Gibson, Mr Forrest and myself.
Fininally, many thanks to Mr Forrest, coach supreme, without whose assistance and willingness to give up his own time, none of this would be possible.
Thank you.
