In 1978 the Skateboard Club was formed- Thanks to the Headmaster who authorised the injection of much needed capital we have been really been able to get airborne. Since then we have paid for the materials and built a ramp and skills have increased substantially. From Semi-Gremlins with two left feet the majority have progressed to become proficient, if not outrageously radical Dock-Town Skaters.
From a few basic tricks to a serious of complex manoeuvre like Terminal Tailblocks at the blue tile level, Some members have experienced total centrifugal fugal compression by delivering 4 out kingpin grinding axle slides (the ramp still bears the scars).
Quite unbelievable results have been squeezing themselves from existing equipment. Unreal airborne realities have been repeatedly achieved by the mad-dog D-Town fringe.
The full commitment group forming the club's backbone have braved smashed knees, plastic hip sockets and a number of street pizzas to experience the profound joys of life or death skate flight and the exhilaration that self expression in it's most dynamic form can bring.
Generally, we have had comparatively few fatalities despite the number and experience of some- of the more junior members, This, no doubt is due to our stringent safety rules. A final thank you then, to boys and members of Staff who have supported us.

P.S. Why not try your hand at skating - it's a real gas!
This year saw a continuing interest in the Life Saving Club with over 40 members obtaining at feast one award during the course of the year. I. was particularly encouraged that several of our seniors went on to take Teaching Certificates, This meant that they had to teach a class of more junior boys and put them through their exam. We are reaching the stage therefore where the Club is being run, to a large extent, by the members themselves and I hope that the trend will continue into coming years.
Space forbids the inclusion of the names of all those who took awards beat would like to single out a few who deserve special mention, Mark Fynn, Kevin Scott and Mark Lamond passed their Student Teachers Certificate and Mark Kreckler the Teachers Certificate. Adrian Jarratt and Stuart Nicholas both passed the Distinction Award. This. is a particularly worthy achievement and brings the number of holders of the Award in the School to 4.
Stuart Nicholas also won the Dover Life Guard Cup for Life - Saving after a close-run competition held in the Summer Term.
